Worship

Worship at Westover is different than what is found in most Baptist congregations.  We have designed a worship service that is accessible to today's culture while preserving meaningful traditions.  We open with a reading of the Psalms followed by singing praise songs.  Quite often we mix in favorite hymns.  After a time of prayerful confession the children come down front for a lesson with the pastor.  This is followed by special music from one of our choirs or a solo.  The scripture lesson for the day is read followed by a message from the pastor.  The congregation is then invited to respond in one of several ways.  They may give an offering at the offering table, come to the prayer table and write out a prayer, come to the communion table and partake of the Lord's Supper or sit quietly in prayer.  An invitation is also given to accept Christ and to join the church. After the response the written prayer requests are read and a prayer is lifted up to God.  Brief announcements are made and the service closes with a song and a benediction.
